Please Describe Your Overall Experience

“While Vision Therapy was difficult for Ashlyn, she is so glad that she has completed the program. She has enjoyed reading and understanding the words she reads. Our family is thankful for the assistance, patience, and time that we were given through partnering with SightWorks. Thank you for helping Ashlyn to gain the confidence she needed.”

When my son entered the 3rd grade and was an entire reading level behind, I took the advice of a former teacher and had him assessed at SightWork. Dr. Barker immediately diagnosed his problem and devised a 16 week plan. Jennifer was such a wonderful therapist and always had so much patience. She made the sessions fun for Zachary. After just a couple weeks I could begin to tell a difference in his reading. After the program was finished he was reading on grade level and scored a 4 on his end of grade reading test. Even more importantly, he reads now for enjoyment. You must put in the work and actually do the homework they assign, which at times you will not want to do. But, if you put in the work, you will get results! SightWork has been such a blessing.

Jennifer Speight has worked with 3 of my kids with great improvement. She is a hard-working, caring therapist. Her ability to motivate the kids and get them to progress through their therapies is wonderful. I highly recommend SightWork for anyone whose kids are struggling with reading or spelling.

Sightwork has been a fantastic group to work with. Dr. Barker is very thorough in her examinations and explains her findings in detail. Where possible, she is able to let us see what our child is seeing. Both Jennifer and Brittany have been awesome therapists. Very friendly and helpful. Before starting therapy, my daughter was not really using one of her eyes at all. Through therapy, she has improved her vision and has learned how to use both eyes again. I would recommend Sightwork to anyone who has a need for vision therapy.

It was recommended that my 10 year old son participate in vision therapy at Sightwork when he was struggling with his reading. Although he had perfect vision, his trouble was with visual processing. During his 16-18 week program with Sightwork he worked on the most interesting exercises strengthening the muscles in his eyes and challenging his processing skills. While the work was sometimes very tiresome and difficult for him, it was always fun to see the progress he made week-by-week. We were very happy with the outcome of his vision therapy and very much enjoyed working with the vision therapist, Jennifer Speight and Dr. Barker

Vision Therapy has greatly strengthened my son’s ocular motor skills, and he is doing much better with reading. I have also seen good improvement in his hand – eye coordination.

Thanks, Lisa

Our family loved our experience with Sightwork. Both Dr. Barker and Ms. Jennifer were great. Very helpful and supportive throughout the process. I am most impressed with their continued education. They are always attending more training and improving the facility. This isn’t your Vision Therapy from years past, they have really keep up with technology and the needs of kids today. Totally recommend them!

Vision is something that most of us take for granted. I know I did. Then my car was hit from behind. I suffered a TBI. Within 24 hours, I was unable to read. Pages looked like grey blurs. I was dizzy, had double vision, light sensitivity, and pain. Even worse, when my three young children would run by me, I would startle. I got burns trying to take meal out of the oven because my depth perception was off. It was really hard to be the mom I wanted to be. My concussion doctor initially sent me to a physical therapist to work on some vision and vestibular issues. But after a month, I was not progressing as much as he would have liked. That is when I was referred to Sight Works. There was no magic potion that made my vision better over night, but Dr. Barker, Jennifer and the other staff knew how to walk me through the dark, blurry grey into the light and restore my vision. Now I can volunteer at the kids school without fear of getting dizzy and falling. I can bake a birthday cake without getting burned. I can play chase with my kids without getting startled. That is something I will never take for granted again. Thank you Dr. Barker, Jennifer and all of the staff!

Sightworks absolutely ROCKS! It is here that I have been learning to look with my eyes and see with my brain. The compassion, encouragement, and dedication from the staff has been phenomenal. Thank you Ashley, Jennifer, Leslie, and Dr. Barker for helping me build better vision!

My son, Jake, hated reading. Trying to get him to read left us both frustrated and in tears. Dr. Barker diagnosed Jake with Accommodative Insufficiency, something his previous eye doctor never tested him for. His eyes couldn’t hold their focus, so it was no wonder that reading was so hard for him. Dr. Barker suggested vision therapy with Jennifer. The cost was very reasonable and the results were fantastic. Seeing him pick up a book and start reading is a beautiful sight and I am grateful to both Dr. Barker and Jennifer Speight!

Vision Therapy and the Staff of Sightwork changed our lives. My son was having difficulty with reading and writing in school. I had tried working with him one on one and his teachers spend extra time with him. He could not retain site words and could not track when reading. We started the therapy and within a few weeks he began to enjoy to read. His hand writing began to improve and he had a smile on his face when he came home from school. The staff truly cared about his success and future. You have changed a family forever!

I am simply amazed by the progress Luke had made since he began Vision Therapy with Sightwork. The areas in which Luke struggled in the classroom, have over a very short time diminished significantly. Most importantly, I see his level of self-confidence greatly increasing. As a teacher of young children, I know the important role self-confidence plays in academic success. Vision Therapy has given Luke the help he needed to become successful in the classroom.
