Virtual Reality for Vision Therapy

In this system, one eye will see some of the targets and the other eye will see different targets. Strength of the targets can be modified at the beginning of therapy. The images are precisely manipulated to encourage the eyes to work together. If both eyes are not seeing simultaneously, the games cannot be played very well.

As therapy progresses, the goals are that, with practice, the brain will coordinate both eyes to work together. When this happens, the patient will appreciate accurate depth perception and improve sight. Changes can be assessed and tracked with each session.

Virtual reality can be used with patients of all ages. Under the doctor’s supervision, a headpiece can also be purchased so that it can be used for home therapy and not exclusively in the clinic.
